Health care expenditure

Health care expenditure shows the development in the total health care expenditure from 2010 onwards. The statistics disclose which health services we consume, where they are provided, and how they are financed. The statistics are internationally comparable and compliant with the classification of the System of Health Accounts (SHA) and its grouping of health care functions, health care providers and financing schemes.

Introduction
The purpose is to give a complete and detailed description of the expenditure in the Danish health care system. Health care expenditure is an annual and three-dimensional account of the health care expenditure distributed on various functions, providers and financing schemes. The statistics facilitate identification of what is consumed, where it is consumed and who is financing the consumption.
At the same time, the statistics can be used to compare the level of health care expenditure across countries, since the statistics are prepared according to international standards developed by Eurostat, the OECD and WHO in collaboration.
