The statistics regarding expenditure on education shows the development of the total expenditure. It quantifies the public as well as the private educational institutions’ expenditures and the sources of funding for educational activities. The statistics are comparable internationally and follow the ISCED classification’s categorization of education levels, except that primary school level are divided into two in the international classification.
Additionally, the statistics can be used to compare the level of expenditure and funding sources for education internationally, as the statistics are a collaboration between UNESCO, the OECD, Eurostat (UOE) and the national statistical institutes.
