Target 6.3: Improve water quality, wastewater treatment and safe reuse
By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.
The indicator is compiled by the Danish Environmental Agency and is in line with the definition. Data from urban sewage systems are from a database with total information on general treatment of waste water in Denmark. Data about individual solutions for treatment (mostly in rural areas) are from the Building register. Not safely treated waste water is primarily from scattered buildings using sceptic tanks with drain to surface water.
