Barometer of names

The statistics are compiled on the basis of one year's births and show names given to babies. The Barometer of Names covers the years from 1985 to present day.

The statistical data source is the Central Population Register (CPR).

Before 1996 only Danish citizens are included in the statistics.

After a child is born its parents have six months to inform the Central Population Register of the child's name, thus there is an approx. six months delay in the statistics. This means that information about the most popular names in a certain year is not available until July of the following year.

Different spellings of the same name (i.e. Anni and Annie) appear seperately in the Barometer of Names.

The statistics are published in the middle of July every year.
