Indicators

17.12.1: Average tariffs by developing countries

Weighted average tariffs faced by developing countries, least developed countries and small island developing States

Definition

The indicator shows average tariffs for countries with MFN (most-favoured nation) status. MFN tariffs are the basic, non-discriminatory tariffs applied to imports from WTO partners that are not covered by a special (preferential) tariff rate. In practice, MFN tariffs are higher than the special preferential tariff rates and typically the standard rate applied. The UN website on global targets data shows that the average MFN tariff for exports of agricultural products to Denmark was 21.5 percent in 2023. The figures are divided into 6 product groups. No breakdown by country group or country.
