Definition

The indicator is calculated by the Research Unit of the Ministry of Justice. The number of victims of violence within the past 12 months who have reported the violent episode to the police is set in relation to all victims of violence (indicated in percent). A victim of violence is defined as a person stating that they have been exposed to a form of violence that was so serious that they became afraid within the past 12 months. The indicator includes people aged 16-74 at the time of the interview, which does not necessarily correspond to their age at the time of the violent incident experienced.

The indicator deviates from the official  SDG definition 16.3.1, as it currently only includes victims of physical violence. The UN definition for indicator 16.3.1 is: Proportion of victims of (a) physical, (b) psychological and/or (c) sexual violence within the past 12 months who have reported their experience
