Definition

In Denmark, there are laws and regulations that guarantee full and equal access to sexual and reproductive health services, including free access to abortion. Health and sexuality education is compulsory in primary and lower secondary school.  The Consent Law (effective from 1 January 2021) and the new abortion law (effective from 1 June 2025) strengthen the right to sexual self-determination as a legal framework that supports women’s ability to make informed decisions about sexual relationships, including the right to say no. According to the new abortion law, 15-17-year-olds can obtain an abortion without parental consent.
