Employed persons

Statistics Denmark has several sets of employment statistics showing different aspects of employment in Denmark. The Register-based Labour Force Statistics (RAS) offer a long time series and can be used to show employment in e.g. small groups of people and with detailed background variables. The Labour Force Survey can be used for international comparisons of employment. The Working Time Accounts can clarify the scale of the hours worked in terms of the economy. Employment Statistics for Employees are a quick indicator of total employee employment. Public sector employment statistics show the number of employees in full-time equivalent units in public services and administration.

Introduction

Statistics Denmark’s employment statistics include:

Register-based Labour Force Statistics (RAS and quarterly labour force statistics) assess employment by the end of November each year. To the maximum extent possible, RAS follows the international guidelines for compiling employment statistics. A person is employed when he or she has the equivalent of one hour of paid work in the reference week. It is relevant to use RAS if you want to show employment broken down in detail, e.g. by individual municipalities, single year age brackets, individual industries. RAS is also used for assessment of business commuting. In addition to the RAS statistics at the end of November, average employment is also compiled for the year and for the four quarters in the quarterly labour force statistics. 

The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is an interview survey that uses the internationally applied definition of employment (one hour of paid employment in the reference week). Thus, the LFS should be used in connection with international comparisons. Moreover, the LFS can shed light on conditions that are not registered in the administrative systems, e.g. whether part-time employees want to work more hours. The hour statistics in the LFS are weekly hours, which facilitates calculation of hours worked per employed person. Overall, the LFS has been prepared in the same way since the first quarter of 1995.

The Working Time Accounts (WTA) can be used when you want an unbroken time series for employment, jobs and hours worked. The information can be broken down by industry, sector and sex. As opposed to RAS and the LFS, employed persons registered with an address outside Denmark are also included in the WTA. The present statistics go back to the first quarter of 2008.

Employment Statistics for Employees are applied when you want a quick indicator of total employee employment measured as either number of employees with a job or full-time equivalent number of employees. Data goes back to 2008.

Public Employment Statistics compile the full-time equivalent number of employees in public administration and service. As the only set of the labour market statistics, the public employment statistics allow breakdown by classification of the functions of government (COFOG), which is the National Accounts’ breakdown of public expenses according to purpose. The present statistics go back to the first quarter of 2008.

16.900 lønmodtagere pendlede fra Sverige til et arbejde i den danske del af Øresundsregionen i 2. kvartal 2022. Men hvem tager turen over Øresund til jobbet i Danmark, og hvordan har udviklingen været siden 2015? Denne analyse tager afsæt i nye data fra Danmarks Statistik, der opgør personer med bopæl i Sverige og arbejde i Danmark fra 2015 til 2022. Portræt af danske landmænd

Landbrugsstatistikken beskriver landbrugets struktur og aktiviteter på baggrund af årlige stikprøveundersøgelser, men siger mindre om, hvem landmændene er. Hvert 10. år indsamles data fra samtlige danske landbrug og gartnerier - en såkaldt totaltælling, der er reguleret af EU. Når totaltællingen kobles til Danmarks Statistiks registre giver det et ekstraordinært godt udgangspunkt for at tegne et portræt af danske landmænd og gartnere.

Der er mangel på arbejdskraft i Danmark, og udenlandsk arbejdskraft kan derfor i stigende grad spille en rolle på det danske arbejdsmarked. Men i hvor høj grad anvendes udenlandsk arbejdskraft allerede, og er der i de senere år sket en stigning i andelen af udenlandske arbejdstagere?

Hvor var de lønkompenserede et år senere?

I foråret 2020 lukkede store dele af det danske samfund ned som følge af COVID-19. For at mindske sundhedskrisens økonomiske omkostninger blev der stillet en række hjælpepakker til rådighed - en af disse var lønkompensationsordningen. Ordningen gjorde det muligt for arbejdsgiverne at hjemsende medarbejdere med løn i stedet for at afskedige dem.

Har adgang til offentlig transport betydning for om man har bil?

I de større byer har den offentlige transport typisk et højt serviceniveau. Der er et tæt netværk af busser, tog, metro eller letbane. På landet er billedet imidlertid anderledes, og det kan øge behovet for en eller flere biler.
