Definition

The indicator is calculated by the Danish National Police. The number of people aged 15 years or older, who have answered 1, 2 or 3 to the question "On a scale from 1-7, where 1 is 'I feel basically safe in my neighborhood' and 7 is 'I feel basically insecure in my neighborhood', how safe or unsecure do you feel?" in proportion to all people in the population aged 15 years or older. The indicator differs from the UN definition as follows: 1) The indicator includes people aged 15 years or older. The UN definition is 'adults'. 2) The indicator includes people, who have answered 1, 2 or 3 on the question "On a scale from 1-7, where 1 is 'I feel basically safe in my neighborhood' and 7 is 'I feel basically insecure in my neighborhood', how safe or unsecure do you feel?" The UN definition is people, who feel safe walking around alone in their neighborhood. From 2021 the indicator is calculated by the Ministry of Justice's Research Office.
