Target 11.5: Reduce the adverse effects of natural disasters
By 2030, significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected and substantially decrease the direct economic losses relative to global gross domestic product caused by disasters, including water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations.

In 2024, the Government established a new ministry, the Ministry of Safety and Emergency Preparedness (MSSB). In close cooperation with the responsible sectors, MSSB is tasked with preventing, resisting, and managing major accidents, crises, disasters, and other incidents that challenge the fundamental functions of society in Denmark.
