    Definition

    The indicator measures adults’ proficiency in literacy and numeracy based on the PIAAC survey (Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). PIAAC is an international survey of adults’ skills and is conducted approximately every ten years. In Denmark, the survey covers people aged 16-65.

    Skills are divided into levels from Level 0 to Level 5, with higher levels indicating that a person is able to solve more complex tasks. In this presentation, Levels 0 and 1, as well as Levels 4 and 5, have been combined. The results are presented by sex. Read the PIAAC report 2022/2023 here.

    Level 2 is used as the established minimum level for functional skills.
