Definition

The indicator measures the sustainability of agricultural holdings at the national level. It is a multi-dimensional concept, assessed through 11 sub-indicators that reflect the three dimensions of sustainability: environmental, economic, and social. Further details on the methodology can be found here.

The scope of Indicator 2.4.1 is the agricultural holding, with a focus on its agricultural land area—that is, land used primarily for crop production and livestock. For each of the 11 sub-indicators, the proportion of agricultural land area is reported separately by sustainability status.

At the national level, results are aggregated for each sub-indicator independently by summing the agricultural land area of all holdings.
