Target 1.1: Eradicate extreme poverty
By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day.
Indicators
1.1.1: International poverty line
Proportion of the population living below the international poverty line by sex, age, employment status and geographic location (urban/rural)
Definition
Denmark does not continuously produce official statistics on extreme poverty. Everyone in Denmark is entitled to social benefits that are significantly above the threshold for extreme poverty. Statistics Denmark therefore assesses that no one, or very few people, live in extreme poverty.
However, the World Bank estimates that 0.2 percent of Denmark’s population lived below the international poverty line in 2022. The World Bank’s estimate is broken down by gender and age groups and can be found on the UN’s website on Sustainable Development Goal data.
