Households and families

How many people are living alone? How many families are living with children? The statistics on households and families can be disaggregated, for example, by number of people in the household and by type of family.

Persons resident at the same address, irrespective of family ties. Thus a household may comprise more than one family.

A family may consist of a single person, or it may consist of a couple. In addition a family may consist of one or more children living with at least one of the parents.

The Population

These statistics show the size, composition and development of the population in Denmark. The purpose of the statistics is to analyze and enlighten the size, composition of the population in Denmark. The purpose is to contribute information about the for planning in relation to the state , the regions, the municipalities or for private users/firms. The population is electronic available from the 1. of January 1976.

Urban Areas

The statistics show the number of urban areas and the number of persons in each urban area and in the rural areas within each municipality. Statistics on urban areas can be found every 5th or 10th year in the old census publications. From 1976 to 1996, information on urban areas was compiled every other year, since 1996 annually.
