Social protection expenditure, v1:2019

Social benefits are classified by function, i.e. expenditure associated with social protection. Social protection expenditures refers to a society's social arrangements and benefits, where the purpose is to ease the financial burden of individuals or households in connection with one or more defined risks or needs, e.g. illness or unemployment. The classification is based on the concepts that are defined in the European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics (ESSPROS) classification.
