Contact info, Labour Market, Social Statistics , Mikkel Zimmermann , +45 51 44 98 37 , MZI@dst.dk , Get documentation of statistics as pdf, Registered unemployment 2025 , Previous versions , Registered unemployment 2024, Registered unemployment 2023, Registered unemployment 2022, Registered unemployment 2021, Registered unemployment 2020, Registered unemployment 2019, Registered unemployment 2018, Registered unemployment 2017, Registered unemployment 2016, Registered unemployment 2015, Registered unemployment 2014, The purpose is to produce statistics monitoring the structure and trends in the unemployed population and the causes of unemployment. The statistics are compiled on the basis of registers. The statistics on the registered number of net unemployed have been compiled by Statistics Denmark since 1979. As from the publication of unemployment statistics for January 2010, attention is now focused on the gross unemployed population, defined as the sum of the registered (net-) unemployed population and persons in activation programmes and who are, at the same time, considered to be available for work. The figures on gross unemployment are calculated from January 2007 and onwards. , Statistical presentation, The register based unemployment statistics (gross- and net-unemployed) provide monthly data on the unemployed population registered with the unemployment insurance funds and with the public job centres. The statistics comprise all unemployed persons insured against unemployment and non-insured persons who are available for work and at the same time claiming cash benefits under the Danish Social Assistance Act. The statistics are shown by municipality, sex, age group, type of benefit, unemployment insurance funds, country of origin and level of education. , Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, All the data is collected from administrative registers. After receiving the data we make a data validation and a harmonization before entering the data into our oracle-database for further data processing, including an elimination of illegal 'overlapping' data. , Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, Users: Municipalities, regions, ministries, job centers, organizations, international organizations, the media, private business enterprises, and private individuals., Fields of application: Public and private structural analyses and trade cycle surveys, educational purposes and public debate., There has not been any actual 'satisfaction-examination' carried out, but the general use of the statistics, for instance by the media, has always been considerable., Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, The statistics comprise all unemployed persons above 16 and until they reach their official retirement age. Only persons registered as recipients of unemployment benefits or social assistance/initial assistance are covered by the statistics. Persons who do not receive social assistance or unemployment benefits are thus excluded from the statistics on unemployment, although they are registered with the public job centres. It is impossible to give a single figure on the statistical accuracy, but apart from the circumstance that a person must receive unemployment benefits or social assistance in order to be registered as unemployed, the accuracy of the statistics is relatively high., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, The monthly unemployment statistics is published roughly 28 days after the end of the reference month, the quarterly statistics is published roughly 80 days after the end of the reference quarter and the yearly statistics is published roughly 100 days after the end of the reference year. The exact official release dates are always published a year ahead., Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The statistics on the registered number of net unemployed have been compiled by Statistics Denmark since 1979. To avoid a great number of discontinuities of the data series, the statistics have roughly speaking remained unchanged since 1979. However, the unemployment statistics have been adjusted as from the publication of unemployment figures for January 2008. The underlying primary data have been edited and changes have been made to the concept of unemployment, which imply that the Danish concept of net unemployment is now closer to the definition of unemployment applied by the International Labour Office, ILO, see item 3.1. All changes have been made back to April 2000. As from the publication of unemployment statistics for January 2010, attention is now also focused on the gross unemployed population, defined as the sum of the registered (net-) unemployed population and persons in activation programmes and who are, at the same time, considered to be available for work. The figures on gross unemployment are calculated from January 2007 and onwards. When the register based unemployment statistics depends on a number of national administrative registers it is not a good statistics for international comparisons. For international comparisons of unemployment you ought to use the unemployment figures from the labour force surveys in the different countries instead., Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, These statistics are published monthly in a Danish press release, at the same time as the tables are updated in the StatBank. This attachment is recorded at the end of November and compiled once a year. The first RAS compilation was made at the end of November 1980., Statistical presentation, RAS is an annual, individual-based compilation that records the population’s attachment to the labour market on the last working day of November. The population’s attachment is divided into three main socio-economic groups: employed, unemployed, and persons outside the labour force. The statistics can be broken down by demographic variables and education, as well as by industry, sector, and municipality of the workplace for employed persons. The data are published in News from Statistics Denmark and in the Statistics Denmark StatBank, and detailed micro-data are made available through Statistics Denmark’s Research Service., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, The register-based labor force statistics (RAS) are based on the Labor Market Account (AMR_UN), which is a longitudinal register. When RAS is compiled, a status assessment (in relation to the population's primary attachment to the labor market) is carried out on the last working day of November in the AMR. Based on AMR_UN, it is also possible to perform status assessments on arbitrary days throughout the year., Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The register based labour force statistic (RAS) is primarily been used to structural analysis of the labour market, because the statistic has a very detailed level of information. Many external as well as internal users are using the statistic., Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, RAS is a register-based compilation that uses many data sources to measure the population's affiliation to the labor market. This means that RAS does not have the same uncertainty as statistics based on samples. RAS consists of a wide range of data sources, which are integrated, checked for errors, and harmonized, making it possible to provide a better picture of the population's connection to the labor market than the individual statistics can., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, From the publication of figures for the end of November 2018 onwards, the release is carried out in two stages. In the first release, persons outside the labor force are grouped together in a single category. This publication takes place approximately 11 months after the reference point. In the second publication, which occurs approximately 15 months after the reference point, persons outside the labor force are divided into different socioeconomic groups., Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The first version of the RAS statistics includes the population resident in Denmark as of the 1 January 1981 and its attachment to the labour market at the end of November 1980. The statistic has been compiled once every year since. New and better data foundations and changes in the labour market have however caused a number of data breaks over time, which have influence on the possibility of comparing data over time. Since RAS is based on administrative registers with national distinctive marks, it is very difficult to compare the statistic in an international level. , Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, The statistics is published in Statbank Denmark: , Labour market status (RAS), and , Employed persons (RAS), . , For further information go to the subject pages , Labour market status (RAS), and , Employed persons (RAS), ., Read more about accessibility and clarity

The main components are the import and export of goods and services, the surplus (or deficit) of the current account and the net worth (or net debt) respect to the rest of the world. The balance of payments statistics is compiled in cooperation with Danmarks Nationalbank , Statistical presentation, The balance of payments records the value of the economic transactions on a monthly basis between the Danish balance of payments area and the rest of the world. There are three main accounts: the current account (trade in goods and services, primary and secondary income), the capital account (capital transfers and acquisition/disposal of non-produced, nonfinancial assets between residents and non-residents) and the financial account (transactions that involve financial assets and liabilities between residents and non-residents). The statistics show the geographical distribution (counterpart countries). Danmarks Nationalbank compiles the financial account and the investment income of the Danish balance of payments., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, The statistics are primarily compiled based on other statistics. The data sources are used directly and as a basis for calculations of developments. Validation of the sources mainly occurs during the preparation of other statistics, but special validations are carried out across selected sources to ensure consistency between the sources. The validation particularly targets businesses' international organisation of production. The data sources are processed so that monthly balance of payments statistics can be produced, even if some sources are compiled quarterly or annually. , Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The publication of the balance of payments, particularly the monthly dissemination, often attracts significant public interest. Ministries, politicians and centers for economic analysis are the main users of the statistics. The balanced of payments is also used in the compilation of national accounts as it is the rest of the world sector. , Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, The compilation of the balance of payment is mainly based on other statistics. Accordingly, the accuracy of the balance of payments statistics is very much dependent upon these statistics. Coverage is high, as there is a particular focus on coverage in the largest data sources, i.e. the international trade in goods statistics (ITGS) and the international trade in services statistics (ITSS). Ongoing validations are performed. The calculations and model assumptions in the compilation are not considered to affect the overall accuracy of the main items in the balance of payments., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, The statistics are published quarterly, approximately 40 days after the end of the reference period. Main results are published monthly, approximately 40 days after the end of the relevant month. The final statistics are published approximately three years after the end of the reference period. The statistics are published on the announced time. , Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The balance of payments has been compiled since 1934, with a continuous time series available since 2005. The compilation of the statistics follows the IMF's manual BPM6. There is thus comparability with other countries following the same manual and back to 2005. For the detailed items, there is no comparability with the series before 2005. The statistics on International Trade in Services are directly included in the compilation of the balance of payments. For International Trade in Goods, there are methodological differences, so there is a discrepancy between the two statistics. The statistics is part of the national accounts and is directly included as the rest of the world sector in the sector account of the national accounts., Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, The latest figures are published in a monthly news article "Nyt from Statistics Denmark," and all figures can be found in the Statistics Bank. The simplest and most commonly used concept of productivity is labor productivity, which is used here. Labor productivity (LP) and the causes for the change in LP is calculated back to 1966., Statistical presentation, Productivity is basically a measure of how efficiently you use your resources (labor, capital, etc.) when producing goods and services. In this statistic it is also calculated which resources contribute most to the change in productivity. Productivity change is distributed across industries for the various productivity components. The statistics are disseminated in News from Statistics Denmark and the StatBank., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, Labor productivity is defined as the real value of Gross value added (GVA) per hour worked. The calculations are based on figures from market activity from national accounts, i.e. the total economy excluding the sectors: General government (S.13) and NPISH (S.15). The sources used for calculating the productivity growth is fixed capital, Labor force education statistics and sector account figures for Gross value added and hours worked., Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The national accounts (including Productivity statistics) constitute core indicators of the analyses of economic growth. Users are primary researchers, economic departments and organizations., The division of national accounts continuously evaluates feedback from our users., Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, The precision of the calculation of productivity growth is closely related to the uncertainty of the variables that are included in the calculation. I.e. how well, the value of an hour's work is reflected in the gross value added in fixed prices for the industry; the quality of the calculated hours and whether there are special conditions in the industry that make labor productivity less relevant, e.g. high capital intensity. For multiple industries, labor productivity growth should not stand alone in productivity analyzes. This applies, for example, to dwellings, public administration, education and health., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, First preliminary version of Labor productivity (LP) for year t is published end of March in year t+1. The purpose of the harmonized consumer price indices is to be able to estimate the development in the countries' consumer prices on a comparable basis. HICP is used both by the Commission and by the European Central Bank in connection with the valuation of the price development in the individual countries in connection with the implementation and monitoring of the 3rd phase of the EMU. All the EU Member States and Norway and Iceland have compiled HICP since January 1997., Statistical presentation, HICP shows the development of prices for goods and services bought by private households in Denmark. Thus, the index also covers foreign households' consumption expenditure in Denmark, but not Danish households' consumption expenditure abroad. The index shows the monthly changes in the costs of buying a fixed basket of goods, the composition of which is made up in accordance with the households' consumption of goods and services., The price indices for April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December 2020 and January, February, March, April, May and June 2021 are more uncertain than usual, as the non-response rate has been significantly larger than normal and some businesses have been shut down due to COVID-19., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, The HICP is calculated on the basis of 23,000 prices collected from approx. 1,600 shops, companies and institutions throughout Denmark. Most prices are by far collected monthly. The data material received is examined for errors, both by computer (using the so called HB-method) and manually. The different goods and services, which are included in the HICP, are first grouped according to approx. 500 elementary aggregates for which elementary aggregate indices are calculated. The elementary aggregate indices are mainly calculated as geometric indices. The elementary aggregate indices are weighted together into sub-indices that are in turn aggregated into the total HICP., Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The HICP is generally viewed as a reliable statistic based on the views of users., Important users are among others The European Central Bank, The European Commission, The Ministry of Finance, The Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Interior, The Danish Central Bank as well as private banks and other financial organizations., Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, No calculation has been made of the uncertainty connected with sampling in the HICP as the sample is not randomly drawn, but the quality of the HICP is accessed to be high. In connection with COVID-19, uncertainty is greater than usual as it has been difficult to collect prices and many industries have been closed down., In addition to the "general" uncertainty connected with sampling, there are a number of sources of potential bias in the consumer price index. One source is the consumers substitution between goods and shops and another source is changes in the sample., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, The HICP is published on the 10th or the first working day thereafter, following the month in which the data was collected. , The statistics are published without delay in relation to the scheduled date., Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The Danish HICP can be compared directly with other countries' HICPs. Using the HICPs it is possible to compare the inflation rates between different countries directly., The Danish HICP is also related to the national consumer price index., From January 2001, the only difference between the national consumer price index and the HICP is the coverage of goods and services, as owner-occupied dwellings is only recorded in the consumer price index and not in the HICP. , From January till December 2000, the only difference between the national consumer price index and the HICP is that both owner-occupied dwellings and private hospitals are only recorded in the consumer price index and not in the HICP. , Before January 2000, there are differences in calculation and methodology between the two indices as well as several differences as regards their coverage of goods and services., Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, These statistics are published monthly in a Danish press release and in the StatBank under , Harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), . The statistics have been compiled since 1992, and is in its current state comparable from 1992 and onward. The register forms the foundation for statistic calculation, concerning the population of car availability and purchase of cars, where the vehicles owners and users is visualized using data from the population statistics area. The car register and other registers are also used for statistics and data extracts to internal and external users., Statistical presentation, The Statistics includes monthly and yearly calculations of current and historical information’s about vehicles and their owners. The most significant calculations of the newly registered vehicles, is their use for assessment of households and businesses use and investments. Important information’s about the vehicles is type, use, model and variant, weight and fuel type, owner/user relationship, geographic location as well as purchase price. Stock figures, new registrations and used car trade are calculated, as well as energy efficiency, families' availability of cars and car purchases., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, Data for the Vehicle Register is collected monthly from the Digital Motor Register (DMR). In addition, data from various registers in Statistics Denmark are collected. The central database tables from DMR are transformed for statistical use.
