Existence of independent national human rights institutions in compliance with the Paris Principles
Definition
The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) is Denmark’s independent national human rights institution, established by law. The DIHR is tasked with promoting and protecting human rights in Denmark and is accredited with A status in accordance with the UN Paris Principles, which set out requirements for, among other things, independence, a statutory and broad mandate and the right to public reporting.
The DIHR’s tasks include, in particular, monitoring the human rights situation, advising public authorities, and analysing, reporting and disseminating information.
