Digitalization and streamlining of the banking sector in Denmark has meant that the number of bank branches per 100,000 inhabitants has fallen from 50 in 2004 to 17 in 2023, according to figures from the IMF on the UN's website on global goals data. During the same period, the number of ATMs has been halved from 67 to 34 ATMs per 100,000 inhabitants.

The number of automated teller machines (ATMs), refers to the number of ATMs in Denmark for all types of financial institutions. Figures are reported annually to the IMF Financial Access Survey (FAS). To make the indicator meaningful for cross-country comparison, the numbers are scaled per 100,000 adults (15+ years of age). The figures were accessed on the UN Sustainable Development Goals global data page her.
