Regular calculations of the population of Denmark dates back to the middle of the 19th century. The early calculations were based on population census and information found in the church registers, but since 1971 the information has come from the central population register (CPR).
Population in Denmark
All people with a legal address in Denmark, at the reference date, are part of the statistics. This is regardless of whether one has lived in Denmark for many years or just moved here.
There are new projections every year and the latest two are always available in StatBank Denmark. The projections are distributed by origin, sex and age.
