Statistics Denmark is proud to be hosting a workshop on economic globalisation, Global Value Chains and statistical data underpinning future policy shaping, to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark on Tuesday 26th to Wednesday 27th November 2013.

The workshop is part of the programme for Modernisation of European Enterprise and Trade Statistics (MEETS) and the ESSnet project on Measuring Global Value Chains. Within the framework of this project, Eurostat provides support to National Statistical Institutes for strengthening ESS capacity conceptually and methodologically to measure economic globalisation and the globalisation of business.

The partners in the project are Statistics Denmark (co-ordinator), Statistics Finland, INSEE, Statistics Netherlands, Statistics Norway, Statistics Portugal, and Statistics Romania.

The workshop will address the challenges and proposals for measuring economic globalisation for national statistical institutes. These issues will be addressed by different international organisations such as United Nations, OECD and the European Commission and by the NSIs participating in the ESSnet.  The key note speaker will be Timothy Sturgeon, MIT
