Behind the Revision
The effects of the revision on government net-lending and debt
The table shows the effect of the revision on government net-lending and debt (EMU-debt). The effect is broken down by the effect of the ESA2010 implementation and the effect of the data and method revision. The table is based on a questionnaire sent by Eurostat to all member countries in May 2014. The government net-lending and EMU-debt are two important key figures used by the EU-Commission to monitor if the member countries satisfy the EMU-criteria in the EU treaty. The estimates are preliminary.
