International trade in services
The International trade in services Statistics describes the trade in services (imports and exports) with other countries. International trade in services is used in the compilation of the Balance of payments. Services comprise all intangible goods, e.g. transport services. Transport by sea is by far the most important service for Denmark.
Introduction
Information on trade in services is primarily collected by Statistics Denmark directly from the enterprises, monthly as well as annually – depending on size. To this is added supplementary information from other data sources, especially with regard to travels, where exports are compiled in cooperation with VisitDenmark.
The statistics on international trade in services are published quarterly and distributed by selected countries and service groups. The statistics published annually are more detailed and are distributed by countries and 50 service categories.

External trade in services is compiled on the basis of:
- Regulation (EC) No 184/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 January 2005 on Community statistics concerning balance of payments, international trade in services and foreign direct investment with affiliate Commission regulations:
- Commission Regulation (EC) No 601/2006 of 18 April 2006 implementing Regulation (EC) No 184/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the format and the procedure for the transmission of data
