Key figures for the convergence of fiscal policy With the introduction of EU's Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), the Euro Member States are obliged to comply with certain demands, which are especially based on a number of economic key figures. Two essential key figures are the EMU- debt and the EMU- deficit, which also enters into the Stability and Growth Pact. The definition of EMU- debt and the EMU- deficit originates from the European System Accounts (ESA) as adjusted net borrowing and selected nominal items of debt for General Government. According to the EDP-criteria, which are layed down in the treaty, the general government deficit must as maximum amount to 3 % of GDP, and the general government debt must as maximum amount to 60 % of GDP.
Comparable International Statistics The Danish EMU key figures will be released at the beginning of May and November, together with key figures of the other EU Member States in the series Public Finances.
